Pests on Indoor Plants in Dubai? Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore
White patches on a stem. Sticky leaves. Tiny insects around a pot.
Finding pests on your plants can be worrying, especially when several plants share the same room. The first step is to identify what is happening before choosing a treatment.
Lilli Plants helps customers in Dubai assess suspected plant pest problems and plan suitable next steps through our Site Visit & Diagnostics service.
What should you look for?
Inspect the undersides of leaves, stems and the points where leaves join the plant.
Signs worth investigating include:
- White, cotton-like clusters: These may indicate mealybugs.
- Small, attached bumps: Some scale insects resemble raised spots on stems and leaves.
- Fine webbing and pale speckling: These can be signs of spider mites.
- Sticky residue: Certain sap-feeding pests produce a sticky substance called honeydew.
- Small flies around the soil: These may be fungus gnats.
These clues help guide an inspection, but appearance alone does not always confirm the problem.
What should you do first?
Where practical, separate the affected plant from others while you investigate.
Take clear photographs of the insects or damage, including the undersides of leaves. Check nearby plants too, even if they still look healthy.
Avoid applying several sprays or household mixtures at once. An unsuitable treatment can damage foliage and make the original problem harder to assess.
Why do plant pests keep coming back?
A treatment needs to match the pest and account for its life cycle. Some problems require repeat attention and follow-up inspections.
Care conditions also matter. For example, persistently moist growing media can support fungus gnat problems, while warm, dry conditions can favour spider mites.
An assessment should therefore consider both the pest and the environment around the plant.
How Lilli Plants can help
During a site visit, we inspect affected plants, look for signs of infestation and review relevant care conditions.
We explain the findings and recommend an appropriate approach. Depending on the situation, further treatment, follow-up visits or ongoing maintenance may be recommended and quoted.
The aim is to address the problem thoughtfully and monitor how your plants respond.
